They were used with a very oily base to protect the skin burned by the sun.

The first fragrance ever produced and sold on market was created by the same Coco Chanel.

I profumi nacquero tantissimi anni fa, circa 5000 anni orsono.
Venivano utilizzati con una base molto oleosa per proteggere la pelle arsa dal sole.
A questa base oleosa venivano aggiunti aromi vegetali come la mirra, l'incenso e l'aloe, e solo successivamente furono introdotti i profumi a base alcolica.
La nascita della moderna arte profumiera avvenne tra il '600 e il '700 con l'invenzione dell'acqua di Colonia. Solo nell'800 e nel '900 la varietà delle essenze disponibili aumentò grazie al colonialismo e si diffusero profumi come la vaniglia.

I do not like wearing men's fragrances, also because, if they have distinguished male from female fragrances there must be a reason, right or not?
I do not know a definite answer. However, I made an observation:
that probably women's fragrances have been created to capture the attention of the male, and vice versa men's fragrances should capture our attention.
Therefore, I try to avoid to use male's scents.
And you might ask me: "So why amongst all of these scents, you have a perfume for men?" (Dolce & Gabbana in zebra pattern, as you will see in the following photo). Well, the answer is simple.
It is the scent that my first boyfriend used to wear when we met. My first love story.
Soon after, the scent has been taken off the market.
And long after the story with this guy was over, I went looking desperately for one last bottle of that perfume.
I think you cannot find it anymore. The last one is probably this one, and it is here on my shelf.

Sometimes I need to smell it.
Sniff it yes, because to spray it it would be too much, it would be a waste.
I smell it when I feel the need to remember the past times.

Non amo portare profumi maschili, anche perchè, se hanno distinto profumi maschili da quelli femminili un motivo ci dovrà pure essere o no?
Io una risposta certa non la so. Ma ho fatto una considerazione:
che probabilmente, le fragranze femminili sono state create per catturare l'attenzione del maschio, e viceversa le fragranze maschili dovrebbero catturare le nostre di attenzioni.
Quindi cerco di evitare di usare profumi maschili...
E a voi probabilmente mi chiederete: " allora come mai tra tutti questi profumi, hai un profumo da uomo?" (Dolce & Gabbana zebrato, come vedrete nella prossima foto). Bhè, la risposta è semplice.
E' il profumo che il mio primo ragazzo usava quando ci siamo conosciuti. La mia prima storia d'amore.
Poco dopo, quel profumo è stato tolto dal mercato.
E molto dopo che la storia con questo ragazzo era terminata, sono andata alla ricerca disperata di un'ultima boccetta di quel profumo.
Credo non si trovi più. L'ultima è probabilmente questa, ed è qui sulla mia mensola.
Che cosa stupida vero?
Eppure la tengo come l'oro.
A volte ho bisogno di annusarla.
Annusarla si, perchè spruzzarla sarebbe troppo, sarebbe uno spreco.
L'annuso quando sento il bisogno di ricordare i tempi passati.
E a voi, vi è mai capitato qualcosa di simile? Una bella storia d'amore (la prima) della quale - nonostante sia finita male - ne volete solo custodire i bei ricordi cancellando quelli cattivi solo con un odore?
